My name is Mekhi, and I live in Atlanta, Georgia. This is how I went from a 1200 to a 1370 SAT in under 2 months—a journey from trepidation to success.
I started my journey into the SAT in August of my junior year due to a lack of urgency and procrastination. This was a huge mistake. I had nine classes overall, two of which were high school and seven of which were college dual enrollment. I had to balance this workload with working out, maintaining a social life, and finishing my passion project, leaving me with almost zero time. I was concerned about allocating time to upcoming college deadlines. This left me in an impossible spot, having to prep for the SAT in two months under all these time constraints.
When I started prepping for the SAT in August, I had no direction or advice on targeting my weak areas and preparing effectively with the limited time I had left. I went to a 4-week SAT prep class for $800, which my parents paid for, and it only increased my score by around 30-50 points. At this point in my journey, I was ashamed of wasting my parent's money and of the gradual progress of my self-studying. I desired something more structured than Khan Academy or just studying random math concepts included on the SAT. I was missing something more for SAT prep: an organized, easy-to-utilize, and more structured platform.
One day in September, while scrolling through Instagram reels, I saw a video about Crackd SAT Prep. The video previewed Crackd’s clean, simple UI, which includes questions for every SAT topic, a question tracker, and a study plan creator. I promptly visited Crackd’s profile and joined the free community Discord. The Crackd Discord had free daily reading and questions, which increased my score by 40+ points over two weeks. Furthermore, numerous active helpers in the server scored over 1500+ and were readily available to help with a question if you sent it in the math, reading, or grammar channels. When I joined the server, I found users like Adiar utilizing Desmos on the SAT to solve question types I had never seen before. Adiar's free Desmos guide in the server and seminars blew my mind with the program's problem-solving capabilities. Whenever I had a question about a concept I didn't understand, I would post it on Crackd Discord, and someone would give me a full breakdown to help me grasp the concepts started making things click.
After several weeks of using the free Discord, I purchased Crackd Pro for just $2 a day.
Access to Crackd Pro made me feel like I could increase my score significantly and get into a good university in the remainder of a rapidly closing time window. Access to 1000+ questions sorted by category helped me focus on my weak points and start grasping some of the missing concepts. The prep planner helped me create a comprehensive plan focused on my weaknesses and time constraints during my senior year. This plan enabled me to utilize my limited time for the most advantageous amount of studying possible. Along with all these benefits, what helped me the most was a 1-on-1 tutor. Access to a top 1% scoring tutor who could assist me with questions promptly started making things click. I also appreciated this more structured approach, being given problems to do each day based on my weaknesses and goal score.
Many times during my journey, I struggled to manage my time—often not leaving any for SAT preparation and trading sleep for study. Over time, I learned to utilize my time to squeeze in the SAT along with all my other obligations and deadlines. I started designating certain days of the week to complete all my assignments for each class, leaving dedicated time for the SAT at night. I also restructured my sleep schedule, opting for earlier classes in the morning and leaving more time later for Crackd and daily reading. Whenever I was losing motivation or hit a sluggish period, I remembered why I was doing this in the first place and thought of the universities I had already worked hard to get into in every other aspect of my application. The most crucial part of preparation is staying disciplined, even on days when it's the last thing you want to do.
At the start of October, I scored 1200 on the SAT, and by the beginning of December—in only two months of preparation using Crackd—I scored 1370, a 170-point improvement. This 1370 gave me a good chance at all my target colleges. The best part of all is I only spent $60 a month. Compared to many prep platforms and prep classes that lack functionality at a steeper price point, Crackd is the best prep tool for the money possible. I recommend it to anyone preparing for the SAT, whether in the future or currently. I wish I had started earlier with Crackd because I could've scored even higher. I am forever grateful to Crackd and the community for helping me on my SAT prep journey—from losing all hope to breaking the 90th percentile. Crackd, without a doubt, is the best test prep platform, and I look forward to other students benefiting from it as I have.
